Northpoint Ekerold Honda complete official Snetterton test on positive note

Throughout the weekend Leon Camier and Cal Crutchlow have both tested a range of tyre and suspension settings to gain the optimum setup aboard their Honda CBR600RRs. The riders have worked closely with Pirelli on testing a selection of tyres around the 3.141km circuit.

Camier is new to the team and has worked on gaining a good base setting over the course of the two day test. The 19 year old completed a total of 97 laps and is still familiarising himself with the Pirelli shod bike. The 2005 British SuperSport Champion posted a best time of 1:08.97 which left him overall second quickest behind team-mate Crutchlow. Camier has produced consistently good times over the weekend which is extremely promising ahead of the start of the season.

Crutchlow topped the time sheets for the weekend, equalling the lap record for a Supersport machine around the Norfolk circuit of 1:08.550. The 20 year old tested a range of tyres, shock and spring settings over the two days, and worked with the team to produce excellent times in the cold conditions this weekend. Crutchlow completed a total of 87 laps and completed his testing schedule in great stead for next weekend's race.

Cal Crutchlow said: “I'm happy with how things went this weekend; the team have worked very hard which has given us a big advantage for when we return here later this year. I'm confident now ahead of next weeks race and I'm especially pleased we managed to equal the lap record considering the cold conditions.”

suspension this weekend; we've managed to gain quite a lot of dry testing which has helped us gain a good setup for the start of the season. I'm trying to gain a better understanding of the bike and the tyres as it's very different from what I'm used to. The team can now look forward to next weekend knowing that we've gained some really good, consistent times and we're definitely heading in the right direction.”

Race Manager Simon Buckmaster said: “Although the first day was extremely cold, the second day gave us some slightly warmer conditions which meant we could successfully complete our testing schedule. Both riders have worked hard this weekend on gaining knowledge and settings for the bike, putting us in good shape for the first round next weekend. We're especially pleased that Cal was able to equal the lap record in these cold conditions.”

The team concluded their pre-season testing programme with excellent prospects, achieving consistently good times throughout the weekend. Both riders can now look forward to the season opener next weekend at Brands Hatch.
