Round 5 Mondello Park 19th-21st May 2006

Northpoint Ekerold Honda are disappointed to not have been able to compete today (21st May) at Mondello Park, the Irish leg of the British SuperSport Championship. After impressively qualifying in pole and fifth positions, heavy rainfall at the circuit deteriorated the conditions during the course of the day causing all races to be abandoned.

Large amounts of standing water around the track left organisers with no decision other than to cancel the races for the first time in the championship's history. Both Cal Crutchlow and Leon Camier had set impressively fast, consistent times throughout the weekend and were looking forward to today's race. Championship standings will remain the same with Crutchlow just one point behind the leader, Eugene Laverty. The team will now look for victory and to putting themselves at the top of leader board at round six of the championship at Mallory Park in two weeks time.

Race Manager Simon Buckmaster said; “We're obviously disappointed that the race hasn't been run today as we had a good chance of bringing some good results. However the track is waterlogged and it would be too unsafe to allow the races to go ahead so we now must concentrate on our championship challenge at the next round.”

Northpoint Ekerold Honda's next outing in the British Supersport Championship is on the 4th of June at Mallory Park
