| Crutchlow secured his third victory of the season, the 26th rostrum of his career, after starting from the front of the grid. The 20-year-old got a good start to the 28 lap race, completing the opening laps in second position. He went on to endure a patient seven lap battle with Suzuki rider, Tom Sykes before a final impressive pass at the hairpin on lap eight, to then bring his Pirelli shod Honda CBR600RR home for the win. This now extends his championship lead over Eugene Laverty to 44 Points as we head to round nine of the British Supersport series at Oulton Park next weekend. |

An unfortunate Camier was looking sure to have secured the team's second one-two of the season having ridden a hard race from the line. After starting from the front row, he took fifth place on the first lap and quickly promoted himself to third in lap two. After two consecutive fastest race laps he went on to hunt down Sykes and Crutchlow. The teenager from Ashford was looking to make a pass to take second position when disaster struck on lap 21, eliminating both himself and Sykes from the race with a spectacular crash at “The Scotsman.” The disappointed Camier had been consistently quick all weekend and will now concentrate on making amends at Oulton Park next Sunday. |

Cal Crutchlow said: “I'm happy to have taken the win here today. It's fantastic for the team and they've all worked very hard. I've now just got to keep my focus and I'm looking forward to Oulton Park next weekend.”
Leon Camier said: “I'm really disappointed and frustrated with what happened in the race today. I had committed to pass Tom but the backmarker he was following shut the door and there was no-where for me to go. On the up-side we have been very strong all weekend and we were looking at a second place finish, I hope we can go onto the next round with this kind of form.”
Team principle Gary Ekerold said: “This weekend's result is fantastic for Honda and Pirelli's championship objectives. Cal had a very mature ride and is now showing true champion qualities. Obviously the result is very disappointing for Leon but there are a lot of positives to take away from the weekend for him.”
Northpoint Ekerold Honda's next outing is at round 9 of the British Supersport Championship at Oulton Park on the 23rd of July. |
